Avoid Speeding Tickets, Traffic Fines
Monday, January 19th, 2009If you are anything like me, speeding and gathering speeding tickets is just a normal part of my life. It came to a point where I just had to stop and avoid speeding tickets, if I was not to put my license at risk. However early I started for an appointment, something happened and interrupted me, and I’m pressed for time yet again. And believe me, the obstacles were really not to be foreseen – like when on my way to the airport to fetch a most important client, the highway was blocked by police because of the visit of the Swedish Royal couple- for their security. Now – who for heaven’s sake would think of that?
So you collect speeding tickets inevitably, if you drive with a lead foot on the gas pedal, actually you come to the conclusion if it would not be cheaper to acutually buy a radar detector, before you get to lose your drivers license in the bargain.
What exactly does a radar detector do? It’s a simple microwave radio receiver which detects installed speed traps or radar guns early enough for you to break down to lower speed (the allowed limit), and such you’ll avoid those costly speeding tickets. The warning is either a flashing light or some kind of noise from your radar detecting device. Then there are those types which function with a GPS system and you download regularly all those typical radar trap locations and it warns you in time to slow down.
Be aware though, that it’s illegal to install radar detectors in passenger cars in Virginia and Washington DC.
Now you should – at the same time – know that you can get "Remotely mounted radar detectors- that are, what expert’s jargon means "permanently" mounted to your car, hidden completely from sight. Needless to say, you’ll need an expert to mount them unless you are somehow car-techy yourself, you’d rather really leave it to the pro’s to do. Needless to say – these kinds of radar detectors are on the rather expensive side, but – and I’m sure you’ll agree – we are looking at the ‘long term benefit’ when we discuss the subject of radar detectors. So, ‘expensive’ has another meaning here.
Now, there’s hardly another field of electronic ‘gadgets’ I know of where the word "price stands for quality and reliability" is more true than with radar detectors. In general, you get the ‘corded type of radar detector’ which you simply plug in to your cigarette lighter, and fasten the device itself to your windshield with suction cups. They are the most purchased type, actually – well – you guess – it’s their price.

One level higher are the wireless type – which users favour because they are flexibel to handle.
Radar detectors do not function 100%; But no doubt, heavy footed drivers who sport a radar detector – no matter what’s the cost, are always better off. One speeding ticket can cost you five times as much as a radar detector. Full stop – this is a no brainer.
But hold on – there’s something else in store: what about a reflecting spray on your number’s plate, that makes your number "unreadable" for a camera? Kind of cute – hey! And there a such foils with the same effect!
Then again – if you are waved out by the cops and have to stop your car – this is no good either – you are right in the trap.
So – when all is told and done – you’ll have to revert to some other trickery, to avoid getting penalized – even if at some cost – and all this – will be talked and discussed here on this web-page. I’ll be happy if you share your experiences and comments.

I want to be sure of one thing: I’m in no way a reckless driver. I’ll never put anyone at useless risk just to wait at the next robot in front of the car I have just overtaken… you know what I mean. I never drive fast when children are around, and I’ve just had a very ugly accident last Summer because I child sprang out between parked cars right in front of our car- but I was not driving -my friend was – and while I was really badly hurt with a broken shoulder, broken knee etc – the child was absolutely unhurt. But I’d have reacted just like her, my friend, steer right away from the child.
But we all have to earn a living. If earning your living involves going from A to B by car and arriving in time, there you go – read the 1st paragraph of this article.
And you’ll share my opinion that speeding traps are never there, where the going is "really" dangerous. Rather the opposite is true. It’s just a way of the authorities to cash in on people like you and me trying to get their job done. They can only take money from those that actually earn money.
Sure, there is the other side of the population that also gathers traffic fines – but they never land in speeding court – they don’t even think about how to beat a ticket – they just "disappear".
But those of us, who hold a job and have a regular family life, have to deal with traffic fines, we have to pay or fight traffic fines and speeding tickets, but
